BATTLE CREEK AREA METROPOLITAN SERVICE AGENCY(AMSA)
Authorization: The Interlocal Agreement for the
Battle Creek Area Metropolitan Service Agency pursuant to
provisions of Urban Cooperation Act of 1967, duly executed
on July 2, 1973, as amended by First Amendments and approved
by the Governor of the State of Michigan on September 25,
1973.
Appointing Authority: The Cities of Battle Creek
and Springfield, and the Townships of Bedford, Emmett,
Leroy, Newtown, and Pennfield.
Purpose: To develop the mechanisms and processes
that will allow the member governments to participate
cooperatively and voluntarily in providing needed goods and
services to their respective governmental units.
Members: Each
member unit shall be entitled to one additional
representative for each 15,000 population or part thereof.
City of Battle Creek (4;) City of Springfield (1;)
Bedford Township (1;) Emmett Township (1;) Leroy Township
(1;) Newtown Township (1;) Pennfield Township (1;) plus the
two Mayors and five Supervisors (or appointees.)
Terms: Each
member unit shall have the authority to determine the term
for which said councilmen shall serve.
Special Requirements:
Resident of unit of government.
Compensation: None
Annual Meeting:
Place of Annual Meeting shall be set by the Council.
