Goguac Lake Board

Authorization
Resolution No. 102, dated February 15, 2000, pursuant to Public Act 451 of 1994, as amended by Public Act 59 of 1995.

Appointing Authority
Mayor appoints City Commission representative by Resolution. Calhoun County Commission, Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) and Goguac Lake Board.

Purpose
To protect the public health, safety, and welfare, and conserve the natural resources and preserve property values around Goguac Lake. The Goguac Lake Board may act only on projects as instructed by the City Commission. Currently, the only project the Goguac Lake Board has been charged with is to monitor and control the growth of aquatic weeds..

Members
City representative appointed by City Commission, County Commissioner appointed by the Chairperson of the County Board of Commissioners, the County Drain Commission, representative of MDEQ, and a Goguac Lake resident. (If current Goguac Lake Association represents the majority of lakefront property owners, the Association may submit three names of residents to the Lake Board. The remaining board members then select from this list. If the Association does not represent the majority, the committee may select a resident from the pool of lakefront property owners.)

Compensation
None

Special Requirements
City Commission does not have the authority to dissolve the lake board once it is formed. The Goguac Lake Board may act only on projects as instructed by the City Commission.
