Department
A Neighborhood Planning
Council, or NPC, is a group of citizens from the same
residential area who meet to discuss common issues which are
causing concern in their area. Suggestions and information
which members may have are shared with City Officials who
can work with the councils to bring about desired changes.
Any person who lives or owns property in a neighborhood
council area may attend meetings, which are open to the
public. Members are appointed by the City Commission. Anyone
wanting to join a council should give his or her name to the
chairperson of the council. His or her name will be
submitted to the City Commission for approval and official
appointment. Each
neighborhood council has its own meeting date each month.
Meetings all start at 7:00 p.m. and run one to two hours.
Meetings are often held in neighborhood schools or other
areas. Questions about Neighborhood Planning Councils,
meeting locations or membership may be directed to the
