Following are a number of the housing assistance
programs available to residents of the City of Battle Creek. (All
Programs limited to funding availability)
City of Battle Creek / Housing Rehabilitation
Home Rehabilitation Loans
Home improvement loans (Deferred for
seniors 60 years old or more, or 55 years with a disability)
- Help with moderate home rehabilitation
- Own home

- Income requirements
Community Action Agency of Southcentral Michigan
Fuel Assistance
- Shutoff Notice
- Bill payment history (6 months)
- One time assistance
- Income requirements
Housing Assistance
- Help with housing related emergencies, such as
eviction, mortgage foreclosure, property tax delinquency, or homelessness
- Decision notice from FIA
- Proof of Emergency (notice)
Home Weatherization
- Help with installing insulation, broken glass
replacement, replace bad doors, new windows, etc.
- Own home or landlord’s consent
- Fuel usage statements for last 6 months
- Income requirements
Emergency Home Repairs
- Help with basic home repairs and physical or
handicapped modifications
- Own home or land contract holder’s consent
- Taxes paid
- Income requirements
CHORE Services
- Simple home maintenance projects
- Must be 60 years +
- Calhoun County resident
- Unable to obtain needed services from any
other source
