How do I get a Copy of a Police Report?
Traffic accident reports can be obtained at the records
counter located inside of the police department. The charge for
this service is $10. Accident reports may be faxed or mailed
after we receive the $10 charge. They can also, with the report
number, be accessed on www.docview.us.com for a $10
charge.
All other types of reports, report attachments, 911 Dispatch
tapes, and photographs need to be requested at the City Clerk's
Office located inside of City Hall through the Freedom of
Information Act (FOIA). The charge for reports requested through
FOIA is $4.18 per ¼ hour of labor plus 10 cents per page.
Fingerprinting
We currently provide fingerprint processing during the hours
of 3:00pm to 5:00pm Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
The charge for LiveScan fingerprinting is $69.25, the charge for
ink-rolled impressions is $20 per card, and there is no charge
for court ordered fingerprints. The charge for LiveScan
fingerprinting may vary based upon the reason for the request.
Gun Permit/Registration
You must be a citizen of the U.S., have a photo ID with your
current address, and live in the City of Battle Creek or Bedford
Township. The permit is valid for ten days; the weapon
will need to be purchased and brought back to be inspected and
registered within that time. If you decide not to purchase the
weapon you must return the permit to the Police Department by
the listed expiration date.
Arrest Record Checks
Arrest record checks are provided through our agency and only
cover arrests that have been made by our department. You will be
required to show a photo ID for this service. If you are an
employer or government official, you must have a signed consent
form from the applicant authorizing the release of records. The
charge to the public for this service is $15.
Concealed Weapons Permit Application Packets
CCW permits are issued by Calhoun County Gun Board located in
Marshall, MI. We do have application packets available upon
request.
Notary Services
Notary services are provided to the public at a charge of $5
per notarized signature.
