Overview

The Planning and Community Development Department is administered by Director of Licensing and Compliance, Susan Bedsole; Planning Supervisor, Christine M. Hilton, AICP; and Community Development Supervisor, Al Giguere.

Planning & Zoning Department
This department coordinates the Planning Commission regarding applications for Special Use Permits and Zoning Reclassifications.    

The Zoning Board of Appeals reviews applications for Zoning Variances.           T

The Historic District Commission reviews Historic Districts and related issues for the City of Battle Creek.

Community Development Department
This department coordinates the Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnership Grant (HOME), and administers the Housing Rehab Program.
